TRELLIS by N. S. Hill
Chapter Six First Paragraph:
The island sunshine shone brightly through the tall sterile windows into Dr. Salvaggi’s lab. The back of the large room had been lined with shelving that ran from floor to ceiling holding what could only be described as atrocities that were performed against the clones on Trellis. Some of the jars held a human brain or organs from a clone that at one time went to anesthetic slumber on the doctor’s operating table and never woke up. The Doctor never meant for them to meet their demise this way. However, in his mind this was the side effect of trying to perfect the flawless weapon. The other jars were brain samples he had recently began to acquire from around the globe. He called them his control group, his pool of samples from Trellis that he studied were lacking in new information that he needed.

Brock looked at his watch, “Where are they?” He asked the darkness as if he would hear an answer back. Why had he agreed to meet this late in the middle of nowhere?
The moon was full in the night sky and he hated to be near the town’s cemetery. Mostly because of the dead silence that seemed to fill his head with the noisiness of fear. The other reason he hated it out here, the fact his close friend had been buried there so many years before and he had never been to visit. Guilt settled on him immediately, he looked down the road and saw no headlights in view and again glanced at his watch. He found his feet moving him towards the headstone of his buddy not fully sure what was pulling him there.

As Jill stood waiting at the luggage pick-up with her two children, she couldn’t help but be aware two men were watching them. She didn’t know if the men had been on the flight, she only knew she felt uneasy. She was beginning to think this new journey they were embarking on was a mistake and her father was right about traveling so far from home alone. It was the most independent decision she had made since her husband disappeared one year earlier. She had faith he would be back, everything would make sense, and they could put this mystery behind them. No one else shared that belief.
My Facebook Page
For sometime now I have been tossing around creating a private group on Facebook for a few author friends. Well, I did it this morning! Yes, I belong to some very large groups that are great but I find the bigger the group, the bigger my inhibitions become about sharing my stuff. I also get asked many questions on a weekly basis about starting a blog or getting published. There is a wealth of knowledge out there on the net and learning this stuff doesn’t just happen over night. It takes time. Lots of time and the self-publishing industry is changing the face of publishing like we have never seen before and putting the power back in the author’s court. We have so much more control now and it is an exciting time to be a writer!
With that being said, there are a lot of things that authors can lack in– a community! This is important!! As the saying goes, “Writing is a solitary art, but that doesn’t mean you have to be lonely.”
If you are a new writer, established, or you have fiddled around with writing a story and never finished, this group may be for you.
I created a group. It is a private group. It WILL be a helpful group. It WILL be a respectful group.
If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of then answer these three questions:
#1 Are you an aspiring writer of Fiction, Fantasy, or Sci-FY?
#2 Do you need a community to bounce ideas off of?
#3 Are you a Christian? (Yes, I went there! 🙂 )
Tell me about yourself! If you leave a comment with your email I will send you an invite to this group. Now to avoid the spammer bots that slink around the web when you type your email don’t place the .com or space out each letter and I will figure it out. I will then comment that I sent you an invite so you can look for the invitation!
